Indigenous Media Network

The Indigenous population is both the fastest growing in Canada and the youngest in the nation

Indigenous Community Network

Introduction

The Indigenous community makes up 5% of Canada’s population. According to our last census, the Indigenous population is both the fastest growing in Canada, blossoming by 42.5% between 2006 and 2016, and the youngest in the nation, with about 44% of its population under the age of 25.

There are 630 First Nation, Métis, and Inuit communities in Canada, in which 50 Nations speak 50 different languages.

Reaching these communities through traditional advertising vehicles has been difficult, given their rural nature and lack of broadband so the Indigenous population has been largely ignored.

Until now.

History

Adapt Media’s very existence began as a result of investment by the Indigenous community.

Jamie Thompson, Adapt’s CEO, proudly touts the fact that his very first client and first believer in Adapt’s future was the Aboriginal People’s Television Network in 1998. Since then, Adapt has worked with the Canadian government to deliver crucial messaging to Indigenous communities across the country through posters on community Friendship Centres, band offices, and retail locations in a network that now spans hundreds of rural neighbourhoods.

At the Indigenous Media Network, we acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples, including the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. We honour their deep connections to the land, water, and all living beings, and we commit to respecting their enduring presence, perspectives, and knowledge.

As a settler-owned Canadian media company that works directly with Indigenous communities across Canada, we are dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and working collaboratively toward furthering reconciliation, on behalf of our organization and our clients.

Parameters

The goal in creating an Indigenous Media Network is to serve, inform, and educate these communities in the most respectful manner possible.

All creative will be authorized by community representatives and the Indigenous business owners of the locations in which the posters may be placed.

Due to that sensitivity, please keep in mind that lead times are longer with this network in order to facilitate all necessary approvals.
